Author guidelines
Aims and Scope: Working Papers on Culture, Education and Human Development (WPCEHD) is an international forum for the publication of peer-reviewed articles that examine the relationships between culture, education and human development. We seek to promote dialogue among different schools of thought about these relationships, and encourage both interdisciplinary and international contributions. Particular emphasis is placed upon empirical research, theoretical analysis and educational experiences based on cultural and sociocultural perspectives in social sciences.
In that regard, we consider three types of articles: empirical contributions, theoretical analysis and educational and social intervention programms (up to 8,000 words). Please keep in mind when you are preparing a manuscript that our readership includes anthropologists, psychologists, linguists, sociologists, educators, and interdisciplinary scholars. All submissions will be blind reviewed. To facilitate reviewing, a separate cover page with the title, author’s name, affiliation, electronic mail address, and telephone number must accompany each manuscript. This information should not appear anywhere else on the manuscript.
Authors are requested to submit an electronic file to editorial team: revista.ptcedh@udg.edu. For other correspondence, e-mails may be sent to the Editor at moises.esteban@udg.edu
The manuscript should be prepared using MS Word. Authors must accompany each manuscript with a statement that it has not been published elsewhere and that it has not been submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material from other sources and are required to sign an agreement for the transfer of copyright to the publisher. As an author, you are required to secure permission if you want to reproduce any figure, table, or extract from the text of another source. This applies to direct reproduction, as well as “derivative reproduction,” when a new figure or table derives substantially from a copyrighted source. All accepted manuscripts, artwork, and photographs become the property of the publisher. Articles are freely available. No open access publication fee. Articles are made available through journal’s webpage: http://psicologia.udg.edu/PTCEDH/presentation.asp
Manuscripts should be prepared according to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA) (6th ed.). This includes inserting page numbers, a running head of 50 character spaces, and an abstract of not more than 200 words (a video abstract about 5 minutes). The abstract should not include abbreviations, diagrams, or references. Also, do not over use quotations, blocked quotes, and references. APA also requires a particular style of in text citation by author and date (e.g., Smith, 1983) and the preparation of a reference list.
Video Abstract: Main author of the published paper has to send a video presentation to summarize the content of the paper. The video will be included in the youtube channel of the journal.
Illustrations and color reproduction: Illustrations, including line drawings, halftones, photos, and photomicrographs, should be embedded in a Word document. Digital files are recommended for the highest quality reproduction and should follow these guidelines: (1) 300 dpi or higher; (2) Sized to fit on page; and (3) EPS, TIFF, JPG, or PSD format only.
Tables and Figures: Tables and figures should be consistent with APA style and should be included in a Word document at the end of the text. A short descriptive title should appear above each table with a clear legend and all units must be included. Figures should be completely labeled, taking into account necessary size reduction. Captions should be entered as required on the Manuscript Central system while uploading the image files.
Publication ethics
Working Papers on Culture, Education and Human Development takes issues of copyright infringement, plagiarism or other breaches of best practice in publication very seriously. We seek to protect the rights of our authors and we always investigate claims of plagiarism or misuse of articles published in the journal. Equally, we seek to protect the reputation of the journal against malpractice. Submitted articles may be checked using duplication-checking software. Where an article is found to have plagiarised other work or included third-party copyright material without permission or with insufficient acknowledgement, or where authorship of the article is contested, we reserve the right to take action including, but not limited to: publishing an erratum or corrigendum (correction); retracting the article (removing it from the journal); taking up the matter with the head of department or dean of the author’s institution and/or relevant academic bodies or societies; banning the author from publication in the journal, or appropriate legal action.
Working Papers on Culture, Education and Human Development does not require a declaration of conflicting interests but if exists the possibility of any conflicting interests authors has to declarate it to the editor of the journal.
Submission of an article implies that the work described has not been published previously (except in the form of an abstract or as part of a published lecture or academic thesis or as an electronic preprint, or as an oral communication), that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, that its publication is approved by all authors and tacitly or explicitly by the responsible authorities where the work was carried out, and that, if accepted, it will not be published elsewhere in the same form, in English or in any other language, including electronically without the written consent of the copyright-holder.
Author(s) is/are requested to identify who provided financial support for the conduct of the research and/or preparation of the article.
Working Papers on Culture, Education and Human Development considers all manuscripts on the strict contition that the manuscript contains nothing that is abusive, defamatory, libellous, obscene, fraudulent, or illegal.
